Veterans’ Mobility Fund Now Open
We are pleased to announce a brand new, highly specialist grant programme – the Veterans’ Mobility Fund.
This Fund will award a single, five-year grant to an experienced charity who will act as a Lead Organisation, providing onwards grants to veterans with physical disabilities via an externally delegated grant scheme.
What do we mean by this?
If awarded, as Lead Organisation you will be responsible for designing and running a mobility grant scheme, accessible for veterans in the UK and representing good value for money. We’ll expect the grant scheme to be co-designed with veterans, and you’ll need to work together with the NHS to ensure you’re not duplicating any provision that’s already available.
Your grant scheme will need to be fair and equitable, and we’ll expect you to properly manage the awards you make, including monitoring and measuring the impact of the grants.
What is the Veterans’ Mobility Fund hoping to achieve?
Overall, we want veterans to be able to access high quality support, ensuring the proposed mobility equipment solution for them meets their needs and enables them to engage in activities that are important to them.
Who can benefit and how?
We’re really keen for the Veterans’ Mobility Fund to support working age veterans and the mobility issue they are experiencing should have a clear link to their military Service. The Lead Organisation will need to show that they can deliver an innovative project that will truly enhance the lives of veterans with disabilities, ensuring better future access to the support they might need.
Rather than cash grants, the Lead Organisation will provide in-kind awards – items including highly specialised prosthetics, mobility aids and orthotics such as splints and braces, that are not usually available wither through the MOD or NHS.
