Accessibility statement for The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust

This accessibility statement applies to www.covenantfund.org.uk.

This website is run by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet (external link) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some header structure is not optimised for screen reader use
  • Some sliders use a H1. We are exploring solutions to this and have plans to update
  • Some older PDFs may not be optimised for screen reader use
  • Some PDF links may not yet be labelled – we are working our way through these as quickly as possible.
  • Some older information we have is relating to funding programmes which have now closed, which is not considered to be essential to providing our services.

Applying for a grant

A third-party website from a company called Blackbaud (external link) provides our application form and grant management software. Clicking on our application portal takes you to that third-party site. If you have any difficulty accessing that site, e-mail info@covenantfund.org.uk with the words ‘access request’ in the subject line, and tell us which content you are trying to access. Our enquiries team will then contact you to discuss the best way of sending you the information in a format that is accessible to you.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard (external link).

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA Standard (external link), due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some header structure is not optimised for screen reader use (this fails WCAG criterion 1.4.3 contrast)
  • Some sliders use a H1. We are exploring solutions to this and have plans to update (this fails WCAG criterion 1.3.1 info and relationships)
  • Some older PDFs may not be optimised for screen reader use
  • Some PDF links may not yet be labelled – we are working our way through these as quickly as possible.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix PDFs or other documents from earlier funding programmes which have closed, or from older news stories on our website.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
