So far, this programme has awarded over £850,000 to improve the quality of life for veterans negatively impacted by their service. The projects we have supported each provide new, tailored work to support groups of veterans including those with physical injuries, those who have experienced military sexual trauma, those living with PTSD and other complex mental health issues, LGBT+ veterans and women veterans.

This page provides further information on the programme, its aims and themes, alongside details of all awards made so far.

We wanted to support projects that enabled systemic change and long-term, sustainable impact, incorporating key findings from our One is Too Many programme.

Projects needed to address one of the three key outcomes:

  • To support staff who work with vulnerable beneficiaries
  • Address mental health wellbeing, help seeking, and stigma within the armed forces community
  • To address the needs of under-represented groups

Frequently asked questions

I noticed that applicants are encouraged to read the ‘One Is Too Many Evaluation’ Report, developed alongside the Westminster Centre for Research in Veterans / University of Chester, before completing their application, why is this?

We recommend that applicants read the One is Too Many Evaluation, before completing their applications, as well as other Trust evaluations, as this new programme is designed to build on the success of previous Trust programmes, including the One is Too Many programme.

Yes, but we would recommend projects to strongly focus on one of the three outcomes in the programme guidance as an application that deeply focuses on one outcome, may be stronger than an application that attempts to address all three.

Yes, however we may decline applications from current Trust grant holders if the reporting requirements for existing grants from the Trust are not up to date. If you have concerns about current outstanding reporting, speak with your Grants Manager.

Collaborative approaches mean organisations and members of the armed forces community, which could include individuals, groups or organisations, working together towards a common goal/outcome that might be difficult to accomplish independently.

No, the examples are not an exhaustive list, and are meant for illustration purposes only.

Yes, however we do strongly advise applicants to work with armed forces communities to help inform their project, and will ask for evidence in your application, of how people from the armed forces community have helped to shape your project.

You might consider working collaboratively with other armed forces organisations, to help you to deliver your project. There is more information on this in our programme guidance, under, ‘working with other organisations’.

If there are any aspects of the guidance that are not clear, please contact us at info@covenantfund.org.uk

No, only successful applicants will be required to work collaboratively with VPPP projects.

Yes, you are eligible to apply under this new funding, however, please ensure that your proposed project meets the specific aims and objectives of this new programme
