28 new awards back seldom-heard armed forces community

Date published: 15 Apr 2026

We’ve awarded 28 new projects set to support seldom-heard members of the armed forces community whose mental health and wellbeing needs are too often overlooked.

Building on more than £1 million already invested, the latest funding under the Hidden Voices programme continues to back innovative and inclusive support across the UK. Over £670,000, has been awarded this round, alongside eight supplementary awards.

Supporting people before challenges escalate

Many of the funded projects focus on early intervention and prevention, helping people access support before challenges escalate. Look out for:

  • community-based wellbeing programmes for reservists and their families
  • nature-based activities in safe outdoor spaces
  • tailored coaching and peer-support models that reduce isolation and strengthen emotional resilience.

Each of the projects we’ve awarded is designed to be accessible, inclusive and shaped around the needs of those who are seldom-heard in our armed forces communities.

These projects will make a difference by…
  • improving access to equitable mental health and wellbeing support for underrepresented and seldom-heard members of the armed forces community.
  • raising awareness of the needs of underrepresented groups among organisations supporting the armed forces community, through shared learning and knowledge exchange that helps embed best practice.

Anna Wright, Chief Executive of the Trust, said:

“These projects show what’s possible when support is shaped around people’s real experiences. By investing early and listening to voices that are too often overlooked, we’re helping more members of the armed forces community access the right support before challenges escalate.”
