Five new research partners have joined us to bolster our research and evaluation capacity as we begin evaluation of the impact of Covenant Fund grants since 2024.
The new partners – appointed to a framework with us for four years – will bid to work with us on a range of evaluation activities using data, reporting and learning from projects which have received Covenant Fund grants under our three-year strategy 2024-27. They may also bid to deliver research to inform the design of grant programmes to make sure they reach the people who need them most, and to make sure our next three-year grant making strategy is underpinned by robust evidence of the areas of greatest disadvantage and the gaps the Covenant Fund is best-placed to address.
As a public funder, every programme we run forms part of a huge action research project on behalf of the Ministry of Defence: identifying unique areas of disadvantage under the Covenant, testing solutions in the civil society sector, working out how to scale them to reach more people and making sure that learning goes back into government – to inform policy to help prevent other areas of disadvantage from arising in future.
