We are a specialist organisation, with a long history of working to support carers, but we have not previously been able to successfully engage with armed forces communities. Can we apply for funding from this programme?
Organisations which do not also have experience of working with the armed forces community can apply but it is essential that in planning for your proposed project, you have gained an understanding of the specific needs of the target cohort, have an achievable plan to engage with potential project beneficiaries, including referral routes or that you will be delivering your project with another organisation or organisations which do have clear and demonstrable experience and expertise in supporting members of the armed forces.
Does our project have to meet all the programme outcomes?
Projects must meet one or more of the programme outcomes. We will give equal consideration to applications for well planned projects which take the most appropriate approach to supporting the target cohort, including projects which have a necessarily narrow focus and those with a broader approach.
Why is there a minimum request amount of £100K and why do projects have to be two to three years long?
We want to ensure that funding goes towards the most impactful and sustainable projects. To meet the challenge of supporting carer families in armed forces communities, we feel offering a number of medium – large grants of between £100,000 and £200,000 over a two- or three-year period will best achieve this aim, as these projects will have time to gain trust with the communities they serve, build momentum and achieve the strongest outcomes.
Can we apply for funding towards therapy-related work through our project?
The Trust will fund therapeutic interventions that are non-clinical in nature, examples may include life or wellness counselling, peer support, or mindfulness. Any therapeutic interventions need to be proven to work, through credible published evidence. We would not expect projects to be wholly made up of one-to-one therapy sessions for beneficiaries, they will need to form part of a wider package of support within the project.
