What’s available

You can apply for grants between £75,000 and £150,000 towards a project being delivered over a period of one-to-two years.

Themes and priorities

We want to support projects that aim to focus on addressing domestic abuse through preventative measures or by providing effective support routes for victim-survivors.

Your project will need to achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Effective measures are delivered to prevent incidences of domestic abuse within armed forces communities and these address emerging and current challenges.
  • Clear routes are provided which enable victim-survivors from armed forces communities to access effective support, including the ability to recognise and report domestic abuse.
  • Sustainable improvements and adaptations are made to service provision to meet the evolving support needs of victim-survivors from armed forces communities.

Deadlines and dates to note

There is one deadline for applications. If you apply by 12 noon on Wednesday 2 July 2025, you will receive a decision before the end of September 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please note, we will add to this list if and when we receive queries from applicants.

Yes, we welcome applications from specialist domestic abuse organisations. However, if you do not have recent, relevant experience of working in the field of domestic abuse and a comprehensive understanding of the armed forces community, we would strongly advise you to have a partnership in place with another organisation, or organisations, with complementary expertise.

Projects must meet one or more of the programme outcomes. We will consider applications for well planned projects which take the most appropriate approach to the issue of domestic abuse, including projects which have a necessarily narrow focus and those with a broader approach.

We want to ensure that funding goes towards innovative and exemplary projects. To meet the challenge of preventing and addressing domestic abuse within the context of the armed forces, we feel offering a small number of medium – large grants of between £75,000 and £150,000 will best achieve this aim.

No. Applications are welcome for projects of up to two years in duration. If your project would run over a shorter period, this would also be considered within the same criteria as a longer project.

No. We recognise that domestic abuse can affect anyone. However, the Free from Fear 2025-26 programme is solely focused on addressing this issue within the specific context of the lives of full-time serving personnel and their families.

All the information you need is included in the programme guidance and application materials published on our website. This will help you to decide whether to apply to this programme. To ensure that all applicants are treated fairly, we are unable to provide additional, individualised advice.
