Opening up the conversation on future funding

We’re opening up the conversation on our next funding strategy for 2027–2030 through our Collaboration Lab.

Whether you’re a member of the armed forces community, work with the armed forces community, support specific groups or have insight to share, your perspective matters – and we’d love to hear from you.

In our latest Field Notes edition, our CEO Anna Wright explains why.

Field Notes - Collaboration LabsThere are moments when you step back and ask a simple but important question:

Are we really listening well enough?

At the Trust, we know how important our funding decisions are. Every grant we make is about improving support for people in the armed forces community – individuals and families who may already be navigating complex challenges linked to service life.

And before we make those decisions, we need to make sure we are listening properly. Not just hearing familiar voices or relying on what we already know.

Doing things differently

We’ve always drawn on insight, evidence and engagement to guide our work. But as the world changes – and the experiences of the armed forces community change with it – we need to go further.

We want a broader range of perspectives, more honest, practical conversations and a clearer understanding of where support is working, and where it isn’t.

That’s why we’ve created the Collaboration Lab. A space where we can explore the evidence, test ideas, and learn together openly and honestly. It’s not a formal consultation in the traditional sense. It’s something more practical and collaborative, grounded in real experience.
