VPPP webinar

The Trust hosted a webinar in June 2023 which explored the peer support, safe spaces and essential collaboration at the heart of the VPPP programme. The VPPP programme is funded by HM Treasury as part of the Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

The VPPP Programme supports four strategic, national organisations and 10 regional lead organisations across the UK. Within each of these portfolios is a group of organisations working to:

  • give veterans safe, welcoming places to go in their local area
  • support veterans to access mental health support and treatment pathways that meet their needs
  • ensure that the people who support veterans (staff and particularly volunteers) can access good quality training and can have better access to connect veterans into wider pathways.

New funding to help armed forces families with care needs

The Family Focus programme is back, with more funding and longer grants. Organisations can apply for £100,000 to £200,000 for projects lasting two to three years.

Free from Fear: tackling domestic abuse in armed forces communities

Our Free from Fear programme is now open, offering grants of £100,000 to £250,000 for two-year projects that will help tackle domestic abuse and strengthen responses for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.

Supporting Partners programme now open – helping partners thrive

The Supporting Partners Programme is now open for applications. This funding will support organisations to deliver meaningful, targeted projects that help partners of serving personnel.

Care to Command

Funded through the Hidden Voices programme, the Rees Foundation’s From Care to Command project provides peer-led, trauma-informed support for care-experienced members of the armed forces community. At its heart is connection: bringing together people who understand both care experience and military life.

Targeted interventions supporting older service children

Funded under the Service Pupil Support Programme, This project recognises the hidden and compelling needs of service children in Further Education in Greater Manchester, where the majority are from unaccompanied families and in small cohorts. This project brings together colleges to improve understanding and provide targeted support.

Climb 2 Recovery

Climb 2 Recovery (C2R) is working to redefine what recovery means to veterans through therapeutic mountaineering and climbing.

The Penelope Project

West Mercia Women’s Aid received a grant through the Free from Fear programme to support their project, The Penelope Project- an initiative designed to work with the military service to help domestic abuse victims access confidential, independent advice and support, enabling them and their children to move towards safety and recovery.

Spotlight on: Naval Under Fives

Funded under the Early Years Programme,  Naval Under Fives  are offering extended opening hours to support working service families.

RAF Valley

Funded under the Supporting Partners programme, RAF Valley brings service spouses and partners together, while taking part in a wide range of positive health and well being activities whilst enabling informal support nets to develop.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust will award grants of between £10,000 and £150,000 on behalf of the MOD’s Armed Forces Families Fund Supporting Partners programme.
