The Together for Service Families open programme is now open, offering grants of £5,000 to £75,000 for projects supporting families affected by service-related separation and relocation.
Moving home, spending time apart and rebuilding routines and support networks are all familiar parts of service life, but they can place real pressure on families.
Together for Service Families builds on learning from our earlier Apart, Not Alone and Serving Families on the Move programmes. It will support projects that improve quality of life for serving armed forces families and respond to the challenges linked to mobility, separation and isolation.
Could your project support serving families?
We want to hear from organisations with strong ideas for helping the families of serving personnel and reservists manage the impact of moves and time apart.
Projects can focus on service-related separation, relocation, or both. They could help families:
- manage the impact of time apart on mental health, wellbeing, resilience and relationships
- find and access support following a move
- build social connections and reduce isolation
- settle successfully into a new community
- improve understanding of what can prevent, reduce or lessen the impact of separation or relocation, and share that learning with other organisations.
Projects should respond to a clear need and be shaped by the lived experience of serving families. They should link to or add value to existing support, rather than duplicate it.

- Grant amount: £5,000 to £75,000
- Project length: 12 months to three years
- Application deadline: 12 noon on 16 December 2026
The maximum grant available to charities and CICs depends on how long your organisation has been registered. Full details are available in the programme guidance.
Who can apply?
UK-based registered charities, CICs, local authorities and armed forces bases may be able to apply.
Charities and CICs must have been registered in the UK for at least 12 months. Organisations without substantial recent experience of supporting armed forces communities can still apply if you deliver your project with an organisation that has this experience. Projects can take place in the UK or overseas.
