Only the lonely

Our CEO Anna Wright explores the nature of loneliness in the armed forces community.

Loneliness impacts our health, our education, our work, our financial wellbeing and UK plc, and it’s on the rise.

It’s an experience that many of us will share at some point in our lives. For some, it can be chronic and have far-reaching impacts.

Loneliness was an issue we heard about so much in our consultation on our three–year grant making strategy that it became one of the three main outcomes we’re focused on.

And with Loneliness Awareness Week so fresh in our minds, it’s worth reflecting on the extent and unique nature of loneliness in the armed forces community – whatever your place in it.
