Thrive Together steps up support for Veterans in Northern Ireland

January 15, 2025

We are delighted to have awarded a grant of £765,150 to Brooke House under the Thrive Together Programme (previously known as VPPP) for programme delivery in Northern Ireland. The funding will enable them to move into the delivery phase of the programme for their Veterans’ Pathways project.

Brooke House joins the other nine portfolio lead organisations across the UK who have received grants enabling them to realise their plans under the newly named Thrive Together programme, designed to increase support to vulnerable Veterans and their families and enable this support to become self-sustaining.

Enhancing support for Veterans across Northern Ireland

As the portfolio lead, Brooke House will work to ensure that Veterans and their families can easily access, seamless and cohesive services across Northern Ireland. Developing infrastructure throughout Northern Ireland, Veterans’ Pathways will give autonomy and ownership of service delivery to local Veteran communities through a centralised operational facility with localised collaborative delivery hubs.

Brooke House will develop the centralised operational facility where an experienced team will provide a one stop shop for Veterans and their families. This will be supported by localised collaborative delivery hubs across Northern Ireland offering a range of activities, opportunities and support.

Joan Clements, CEO Brooke House, told us “Brooke House are delighted to be awarded a grant from Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund, Thrive Together, supporting our ‘Veteran’s Pathway’ project. This will enhance the work of Veteran’s organisations from across Northern Ireland, funded and non-funded, working collaboratively, to provide tailored services through locality-based hubs to Veterans and their families, as well as developing a better understanding of how to best deliver services that address mental health needs.”

What’s Thrive Together all about?

The second phase of the Veterans People, Places and Pathways Programme (VPPP), Thrive Together aims to build sustainable and resilient networks to ensure Veterans receive prompt, effective and tailored support. Whereas VPPP was fully focussed on Veterans, this new phase of the programme will also include support to families.

The Thrive Together programme aims to:

  • Empower Veterans and families – providing a nationwide network offering seamless physical and mental health support.
  • Create connections – enhancing Veterans wellbeing through sustainable support networks and community integration with a focus on collaboration for long-term impact.
  • Build futures – build lasting partnerships and sustainable Veteran services for a stronger future.
