As we publish the final evaluation of the VPPP programme, Trust CEO Anna Wright explores how successful the programme has been…

Marketers among you, this is not a piece about product, price and promotion. I’m talking about Places, Pathways and People: or more specifically, the Veterans People, Pathways and Places programme (“Vee-Triple-P”, as it became commonly known among its charity networks around the country!).

It feels like such a long time since HM Treasury’s original announcement of the £10m Veterans Health and Wellbeing Programme in 2018, of which VPPP was a central part: a programme to improve veterans’ mental health through sustainable places of safety, effective pathways of support and access to training for volunteers and staff across the UK. This summer, we’ve published VPPP’s final evaluation, a significant piece of research work which has been taking place over the last few years, to explore all of the ways in which HMT’s funding delivered. It’s no understatement to say that the forward-thinking and collaborative organisations involved, from every region of the UK; from a range of sectors and delivery formats; have changed ways of working in service of veterans’ wellbeing forever.
