Video – the Armed Forces community in Herefordshire and Worcestershire
Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council created two short videos to illustrate the groups that make up the Armed Forces community living in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. They also explain each county’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and the important contribution the Armed Forces make to the nation and our local communities.
The aim of the videos were to act as ‘ice-breakers’, providing a snapshot of those in the local population having an Armed Forces connection and explaining why we need the Armed Forces Covenant. Local icons have been used in the first frame to grab the viewer’s attention, The Hereford Bull and Worcester’s statue of Elgar.
Who are the videos for?
The videos, which are around 3 minutes long can be used in a range of settings and audiences such as:
- Inducting new staff and councillors
- Adopted by other organisations such as local NHS Trusts
- As part of Armed Forces Covenant Awareness presentations to staff teams
- On screens in customer service centres
- Great content to share on social media – video always generates interest
- Part of Covenant presentations at local and regional conferences
The videos were produced by a local media production company adapting the MOD’s artwork assets (by kind permission), from the Covenant Explainer video. This meant costs could be kept down whilst also making a visual connection to the national overview. The whole project was made possible from funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, Sustaining the Delivery of the Covenant programme.
