E-Learning – The Armed Forces Covenant at a local level

March 2025

Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council joined forces to develop a compact Armed Forces Covenant e-learning programme for local authority staff and councillors.

The e-learning programme explains the Councils’ commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and how it can be honoured and implemented. It aims to offer overall awareness and how to apply the principles of the Covenant at a local level, across all teams.  It also covers the Legal Duty that falls within certain functions of local authority services highlighting where disadvantage can arise when members of our Armed Forces community seek to access public services.

The e-learning programme also encourages staff with an Armed Forces background to declare their military connection, to join the staff Armed Forces Network and recognise the Councils’ ERS Gold status as forces-friendly employers.

The training has been designed to completed within 15 minutes with a short quiz and the end.

The modules were made possible from funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, Sustaining the Delivery of the Covenant programme.
